Today is the 7th day of the first month from the Chinese calendar which is also called “People’s Day” 人日. It is said from old tales that this day was when humans were created therefore it is also everyone’s birthday. Many Asian cities will be celebrating this special day as well.
In the olden days, people would have firecrackers to celebrate this wonderful day – the day people were born. They would try to avoid killing animals or doing things that would hurt a life. As it is very close to Chinese New Year, people tend to celebrate this day together with the rest of the new year celebrations. As usual, it will be with food, food and you guessed it, food!
Does your culture have any special celebrations similar to this day from the Chinese calendar?
