Traveling the World #139 – Tihany Village & Lake Balaton @ Hungary

Hi Everyone,

It’s been awhile I’ve updated our trip. Today I’ll be taking you around Tihany Village and Lake Balaton in Hungary. Tihany is a small town in Hungary but also have some really nice views. Around Tihany Village, there are many shops selling traditional gifts and restaurants for those were are visiting. There are many cobble stones long the pathway so if you are pushing a stroller like me, be prepared.

As were were visiting during low season, shops weren’t all opened but there were still plenty of tourists around. As we walk along the path towards the top end, it will eventually lead you to Lake Balaton which over looks the clear water. Do come here on a sunny day as there is no cover anywhere so a raining day not only ruins the view but you will get really wet. I suggest you where comfy shoes as it is a bit of a walk and on cobble stones, its is not easy.

The Lavender Shop @ Tihany, Hungary

Hi Everyone,

Let’s continue on some of the cool things I’ve seen in last trip to Europe a few months ago. When we were walking around Tihany, there is a really nice shop that sell items made or related to lavender. This place was just so pretty with the soft lavender colour.

lavendar shop

If you visit Tihany during the right season, you will see lots of lavender fields. The sea of purple is what many locals and visitors see during that season. As we were walking through the main strip, we saw this store with many gifts made with lavender like soap, bath soap, candles, food etc. We didn’t get anything from the store except for a magnet just incase we cannot bring some of the flower based items back to Sydney.

It was just a beautiful store. If you are in Tihany, make sure to visit the store enjoy the products offered in this store.

Quick Weekend Away to Avoca Beach with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

I haven’t had any fast internet access therefore haven’t been as active as I wish this weekend. We had a quick getaway to Avoca Beach which is around 90 minutes from Sydney. The weather was perfect as its was not too hot or too cold leading towards winter. We booked an Airbnb and the house was less impressive as in the picture. It was in a bushy area which I didn’t mind but the interior of the house was a bit dusty and had cobwebs in every corner. Probably will have to give them a neutral feedback on the app.

We visited Avoca Beach were the kids had a dip, found a nice cafe and visited the monthly Avoca Beach markets which I will be sharing some blogs and vlogs on it.

Hope you all had a great weekend and another week of work coming up!

Travelgirls Receives Gifts from Hawaii

Hi Everyone,

A good friend of mine just came back from Hawaii and she bought us some really nice gifts. We caught up for lunch and I didn’t expect to receive anything considering she has two kids and would have lots to bring back. She bought me so really cool stuff!

IMG_9089

First she got us a big pack of granola. It is like cereal so it will be nice to have for breakfast.

Then there is a Hawaiian themed photo frame (Made in Hawaii) and two key rings

And a mini box of Hawaiian Host with Hello Kitty on it *love*. I love Haiwaiian Hosts so the box of chocolate was my afternoon tea.

Happy Mothers Day!

Hi Everyone,

First of all , Happy Mothers Day to all the mums and grandmas out there. Nothing happened in the Travelgirl’s household as we are all recovering from our virus in particular. We did go out for a nice Korean lunch and we got take away for dinner so I don’t need to cook tonight. The boys did give me a really nice gift, a card and a bookmark. There was also a photo block Daddy E got done especially for the day which was a nice touch.

The boys both painted a pot for the plant they were going to give me. Then they started planting the flower 2 weeks prior to the Mothers Day so by the time came around, the leaves were already out. Baby M made a bookmark for me and Baby E wrote me a card with his limited writing skills.

I love the gifts and I hope all the mums and grandmas had an enjoyable day!

Quick Visit to Kossuth Lajos u. @ Tihany, Hungary with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

When we drove towards our Aribnb, we drove past the main strip of the small town in Tihany called Kossuth Lajos u. You would see most of the action on this main road where tourists are being dropped off by the tour buses or people who drove like us will be parking around there to walk around the town.

IMG_0953IMG_0956

There are a few restaurants overlooking the view, a few shops, a public toilet which you need to pay to use (someone does man it in each toilet) and a bank.

IMG_0957IMG_0958IMG_0962

We parked out car at the carpark but they don’t take credit card so we had to go to the ATM located at the bank and pay for parking. Do keep that in mind when you are driving to have a bit of local currency handy for the parking ticket. Overall there isn’t much to see though it was a very nice walk with very people around.

Visit Szantod Ferry Terminal @ Szantod, Hungary with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

It has been awhile since sharing the rest of our Europe trip. Let’s continue! Since leaving our glamping site at Slovenia, we are on our way to Tihany and to get to our Airbnb we need to take the ferry at Szantod. The drive was smooth even thought the weather was a bit gloomy.

IMG_0899IMG_0900IMG_0902

When we arrived, there were a few cars in front of us waiting to get onto the ferry. The ferry can take cars, bikes and people across to the other side. As we arrived in the late afternoon, the shops were closed already. Luckily the wait wasn’t too long and we were on the ferry very quickly.

IMG_0903 (4) copyIMG_0904

The view here was just wonderful! The ferry was very clean and you can have the option to stay int he car or go out and check out the view. The whole ride as around 5-10 minutes max. It was a nice way to get to our Airbnb.

Travelgirl On A New Adventure …

Hi Everyone,

Over Easter and the Anzac holiday in Sydney, we decided to take off to Fiji to escape the bad weather in Sydney. We decided it will be Fiji again as it was close to house and really had an enjoyable time the last 2 years when we visited.

Let me give you a preview on what we have done.

First of all why the below photo? Because baby E took this photo of me and I thought it looked pretty cool!

First thing we saw in our room – bottles of Fiji water.

Having a rest at the adults area …. not much of a view unfortunately but great weather

Travelgirl’s New Hobby – Adult Sticker Books

Hi Everyone,

As many of you may know, I love adult colouring books. But have you heard of adult sticker books? There are a number of them online but they aren’t cheap. They actually cost more than the colouring books I get from the bookstore. But luckily, I was able to get two of them at a cheap price through work as we have a book club and these sticker books were on the list for the fortnight.

IMG_3475

Check out a few of the pages from the book. Looks easy but in fact it will take 1-2 hours for me to finish each one.

As you can see, each project has a page of stickers with numbers associated to the position on the page. It’s very easy to follow, you just need steady hands.

You can rip each of the pages out so it is easy to stick the stickers on them.

IMG_2976

Let me show you the process of the first picture I attempted. It took nearly 2 hours to finish and the results was not shabby at all!

Travelgirl’s First Easter Egg Hunt

Hi Everyone,

Today is Easter Friday and we had a fun day at our friend’s house. Our friend organised an Easter Egg Hunt and I was excited to see how the kids react because it is also my first hunt ever.

When I was growing up, we lived in an apartment therefore there as no backyard for my parents to do any activities like this so I was pretty excited for the kids. After lunch, 2 of the dads took the kids inside to prep them and the rest of us started hiding the eggs around the backyard. As some fo the kids were very young, we decided not to make it too hard and make the more noticeable. Just out some of the hiding spots for the eggs.

We all had a great time and I hope you all have an enjoyable Easter as well.
