Luxury Glamping Breakfast @ Chateau Ramsak, Slovenia with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

For our glamping experience, dinner was not included so we bought food back to the tent. Breakfast on the other hand is included and it was wayyyyy better than what we expected. We woke up to a whole able of fresh local produce.

glamping breakfast

Please keep in mind although we paid for two adults as kids stay free, they offered more than enough food for the whole family. First up which was my favourite was the cold cut platter. Lots of cheese, sultanas, cold cuts, tomatoes etc. Then a full jug of freshly squeezed orange juice which was sufficient for the whole family. Next is a whole basket of different breads paired with butter and jam.

Then there was a muesli and fruit yoghurt which was delicious. After that we had large bowl of cut fruit consisting mango, strawberries, kiwi fruit, grapes etc. Lastly, they were so nice and cooked an egg for the boys and they attempted to make it shaped like a car. Of course there was tea and coffee to finish off. What an awesome breakfast to start the day. 5 star all the way!!

It’s time to leave after breakfast and we hoped next time we could stay longer. The weather continues to be miserable but we still enjoyed the stay. It was just perfect!

Small Thing That Makes Me Smile ….

Hi Everyone,

After reading @catwomantersa’s post the other day about doing up her nails, I was thinking that I haven’t done anything to my nails for years. The reason why being is since having kids, I have been in the kitchen more often so I don’t want to risk of having any of my nail polish or bits and pieces in their food. If you have followed my past videos, you would of know that I have a lot of nail polish.

Last time in Japan, I bought some nail stickers so I thought I’ll start with something simple. So here I have a packet of nail stickers and top coat. After cleaning my nails, I stuck them on each nail and then put a coat of top coat on. Let’s see how long this will last. I am thinking probably 3-4 days max. What do you think?

Luxury Glamping @ Chateau Ramsak, Slovenia with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

Glamping in Australia is an expensive activity and which I have only been to one via Airbnb. Heating and aircon, shower and toilet, fridge, nice sound system, cable tv …. yes the works is what I consider a good glamping experience. While traveling to Europe this time, we decided to find somewhere for glamping because I’ve read somewhere you get pure luxury for less than half the price of what you pay in Sydney. So while doing my research, I found a really nice place in Slovenia which was on our way to our next destination.

glamping blog

Chateau Ramsak was the place we decided to try because there is a hot tub PLUS they accept families. They have the tents big enough for 4 people and enough room for a baby cot which they can provide. No need to think about it – we just booked it in. Unfortunately when we arrived on the day, it was very gloomy but it didn’t ruin our mood.

First, let me take you on the tour inside the room. Most important thing, 2 double beds. One downstairs and one upstairs which is like a bunk bed which you need to climb up the ladder to access. The upstairs is just as comfortable as downstairs. They even provided a baby cot for us which was perfect for the little one.

Then you have the TV, BOSE sound system, aircon and central heating. Going into winter, the heater is most needed.

Here is the fridge, mini bar and basic snacks and drinks if you want to purchase any. We bought a bit of food from the supermarket so no need for that.

Let’s check out the toilet and bathroom It has a nice toilet, hot shower, hairdryer, amenities and a bathrobe ready for us.

IMG_0854IMG_0855 (1)IMG_0856

Outside there is a hot tub which was great for this hot weather. Enjoy the hot tub under the stars.

IMG_0857IMG_0858

The staff bought us a welcome drink we chosen when arrived. They even organised some fresh orange juice for the boys.

This part is the restaurant area. During summer and non raining days, people will sit around and enjoy the coffee and music.

One night is approximately $300AUD a night and it would be cheaper if you rented a smaller tent. Hope you like this detailed tour of our tent. Do you have glamping in your city?

The End of Daylight Saving Last Night in Sydney …..

Hi Everyone,

If you have read some of my blogs or watched my videos, you would have probably seen me mention daylight saving in Sydney is something I wish would stay forever. Last night was the end of our daylight saving for the summer so we had to change our clocks to go back an hour (yay we got one hour back!).

Screen Shot 2019-04-07 at 7.47.24 pm

The reason I dread daylight saving ending is we loose an extra hour of sunlight. When we finish work by 5pm, the sky is already dark and everything seems so sad. Unlike in summer, the sun is still out when we step out of the office which makes the walk to the bus stop more enjoyable. Tomorrow is the first working day since the change and I’m dreading it. And when it hits June when winter comes around, it will be cold, windy and dark by 5pm.

Another thing why the change of time is a pain is it takes my kids at least a week to adjust to the new timing. So I have to change my schedule slightly to cater for this change and going back to work now I’m not sure how it will work. I guess I will just wait and see tomorrow.

Does your country have daylight saving? Do you like it or not?

Nice Stroll Around Maribor, Slovenia with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

While on our way to the restaurant Ancora in Maribor, we had a quick walk around the city. This was our first time in Maribor and the city was not very big. Considering we were there on the weekend, most shops were closed except the bigger stores like H&M and some restaurants.

First impression was that the city looked very run down maybe because we parked on a street with two cars which was pretty banged up. Then walking into the streets, it doesn’t look too run down but not very modern like some of the European cities we’ve been to. Although it looks that way, we felt safe as there were many families out for lunch. There wasn’t really much to see on our map therefore we just had a quick lunch and went back to our Glamping location by the afternoon.

Let’s Visit Soteska Vintgar @ Slovenia with Travelgirl (Part 2)

Hi Everyone,

Let’s continue on the trails of Soteska Vintgar in Slovenia. As we were walking, the sun was getting warmer and warmer. I think also at the same time we were doing some exercise therefore we were getting pretty warm.

Soteska Vintgar

The path is getting more narrow as we go in. Someone walking back (we use the same path to walk back) advised us that we won’t be able to push he pram any further later on so be prepared to take the kids out. As you can see the photo below, I am already struggling pushing the pram through the path. The view though was really pretty. The other thing to take notice is the whole place is not covered therefore it is not recommended to come here when it rains as you will get drenched and the wet leaves on the floor is far to dangerous to walk as it gets very very slippery. Even when there was dew from the night before, the leaves were very slippy.

IMG_2465 (1)

Here is a photo to show you how wet the leaves can be and they are scattered around. On the left you can see people has climbed down and stacked up the rocks in a tower creating a very different look to this lake. The only thing you could hear while walking through here was just the sound of water.

IMG_6254 (1)IMG_5538 (1)

Towards the end, we see this arch bit which we marks the end of our walk. Everyone was here taking photos, I guess we did a lot of hard work to get to the end. A little bit further in, there is a small shop for people to get a drink and snack before they take the same route back to the carpark.

Have You Used Herb Paste in Your Cooking Before?

Hi Everyone,

I was browsing in the supermarket the other day and found these interesting tubes of herb paste. I normally buy mine fresh and haven’t really taken notice of these ones in a tube.

IMG_6163

So you need to keep them in the fridge and is good for 4 months from the day it opens. The one I got is coriander as we use it a lot at home but I wonder if it will take the same as the fresh herbs. And how would I incorporate that with my normal cooking cos its a bit weird (not sure why). By the way, these tubes are not cheap as you can see but they do have many types from chilli to garlic so there must be something you need.

Do you have any recipes you can share with me with these herb tubes?

Review of Biograf Winebar and Restaurant @ Bojnice with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

After our visit to the Bojnice Castle, we were starving so we checked foursquare and found that Biograf had a really high rating. It was close to the castle so we decided to go and check it out. There is outdoor and indoor seating so we choose to go indoors as it was cold outside. Inside there is upstairs and downstairs so we found table upstairs as there were vacant seats.

Biocraf

They have menus in a few languages so we got an English one. Let’s have a look at what they offer. We ordered Biograf Tower, chicken noodles, grilled seabass & gnocchi with cheese (their speciality). Here comes the food!

The servings were very bigger than what we expected. The gnocchi was very rich and filling and we couldn’t finish it. The seabags was actually very nice and it feels like there wasn’t enough as the kids loved it too. Chicken noodle soup was like all normal ones which was perfect for a winter day. Lastly the Biograf Tower was delicious – I loved the hash browns in particular with the cabbage.

The restaurant has a really nice bar so many customers will order a wine or a beer which is great if you bring your date here. It wasn’t very kids friendly sitting upstairs as they didn’t have a high chair but it was acceptable for us as we had our portable high chair with us. The waitstaff was very friendly and all know English. Price was average considering it is at a tourist destination but the service was very substantial.

Let’s Visit Soteska Vintgar @ Slovenia with Travelgirl (Part 1)

Hi Everyone,

Before we left our accommodation, I did a quick research on the complexity of the hike because of two things. I am not a very active person so I’m worried I won’t be able to finish the whole trek and secondly, can we bring our prams because the distance of the whole hike is not short. First things first, let’s find our destination first and decide if we can try it out.

vintgar p1

On the way there, we saw lots of farm animals enjoy the sun and we drove through many smaller old towns. Some roads were so narrow trucks bearly go past each section so the drivers there have to be really careful when driving through these towns.

IMG_0476 (1)IMG_0477 2IMG_0480 (2)

When we arrive there was free parking which was great. We started walking towards the ticket when there is a tour bus coming behind us. I guess it is a popular visiting place after all. Here are the ticket prices. Our kids go in for free. The view here was very pretty even though its a gorge but it was something that we haven’t done before.

IMG_0486 2IMG_0487IMG_0488

My other half snapping away getting some pictures for our travel collection. Lucky the day we decided to visit was really sunny and fine as if it was a wet day, it would be too dangerous for us to go with the kids. There were a lot of leaves and if they get wet, you can slip very easily. Even on a day, you still get some moist from the overnight dew so the leaves were a bit wet already.

IMG_0492IMG_0494 (1)

Just look at how clear the water was. My advise is to wear a comfy pair of shoes and bring small backpack with some water and snacks. There is something to buy at the end of the walk but during the walk, you may need something to keep yourself hydrated at it is nearly 1.6km walk one way after all.

Let’s Visit Expo Cave Karst @ Slovenia with Travelgirl

Hi Everyone,

During our visit to the Postojna Cave in Slovenia, we got to visit the Expo Cave Karst which consists of two exhibitions – Exhibition Life within a Billion Years & Exhibition Butterflies of the World. The ticket to the cave included these exhibitions so we took the opportunity to have a quick visit before our tour in the cave.

Expo Cave Karst @ SloveniaIMG_0547IMG_0573

First we visited the Butterfly of the World. The room were full of butterflies in different colours and sizes. It was such a beautiful room with all the different colours and patterns and it was interesting to see them in one room. There are posters with some explanations of each type and included some interesting facts. It wasn’t a big exhibition but it would be enough for someone to gauge a good understanding about butterflies.

IMG_0559 (1)IMG_0560IMG_0553 (1)IMG_0554 (1)IMG_0555IMG_0556 (2)IMG_0557

The Exhibition Life within a Billion Years was located on the second floor of the building. The moment we came out of the lift, there was sounds of the “past world” which took us by surprise. You could see different fossils and statues of life but some of them looked so real it was bit freaky. This room was not very big so it wouldn’t take too long to finish. It was a good place to visit just before our tour of the cave which we look forward to it very much.
